SOBS Pets aims to conform to the following accessibility standards:

WCAG 2.1 Level AA

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at Level AA success criteria. These internationally recognized guidelines outline how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.

Americans with Disabilities Act, Title III - Public Accommodations. We strive to ensure our website is equally accessible to individuals with disabilities.

Section 508

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act requires federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. We follow these technical standards.

EN 301 549

European standard for digital accessibility. While primarily for EU public sector, we align with these requirements as best practice.

Conformance Claim:

SOBS Pets partially conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conforms means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard, but we are actively working toward full conformance.

Accessibility Features of This Website

Our website incorporates the following accessibility features to enhance usability for all visitors:

Semantic HTML

  • Proper heading structure (H1-H6) for document outline
  • Landmark regions (header, nav, main, section, footer) for screen reader navigation
  • ARIA labels and descriptions where needed
  • Semantic lists and tables with proper scope attributes

Keyboard Navigation

  • Full keyboard operable interface (Tab, Enter, Space, Arrow keys)
  • Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements

Screen Reader Support

We have implemented the following features specifically for screen reader users:

Skip Links "Skip to main content" link at the top of every page allows screen reader and keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation.
Heading Structure Properly nested headings (H1 > H2 > H3) create an outline of the page content for efficient navigation.
ARIA Landmarks We use role="banner", role="navigation", role="main", role="complementary", and role="contentinfo" to define page regions.
Descriptive Links Links provide context (e.g., "View dog skin health solutions" instead of "Click here").
Alternative Text All meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
Error Notifications Form errors are announced to screen readers using ARIA live regions.

All new video content includes closed captions. For older videos, we are systematically adding captions. Transcripts are available upon request.

Audio Description

We are working to ensure all PDF documents are tagged for accessibility. If you encounter an inaccessible PDF, please contact us and we will provide an alternative format.

Podcasts & Audio

All audio content includes transcripts or captions.
